About Us

A decade of trust
built in the jungle

Travel the Amazon was born from a 10-year alliance between our founder, Francis Boily, and a Kichwa family of Zancudococha — among the most remote communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon. What began as mutual respect grew into a co-owned operation that belongs, first and foremost, to the territory.

60% of the company is owned by members from the community. Tourism revenue flows directly back into the families, the forest, and the conservation of this unique, pristine part of the rainforest.

The Origin

Built by hand.
10 years in the making.

Tukunari Lodge did not arrive ready-made. Every beam, every platform, every trail was cleared and built by the Kichwa family and our founder, working side by side deep in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve.

Ten years of shared labor across 175,000 hectares of protected territory — far beyond the reach of traditional tourism — produced a lodge that serves as basecamp to even more remote satellite camps, offering exclusive access to one of the last true sanctuaries of Amazonian fauna and flora.

No machinery reached this place. No outside construction crew ever set foot here. What stands was carried in by hand, by canoe, and by conviction — so that we could offer something the industry simply cannot replicate: fair-trade, sustainable, deeply immersive expeditions built on a foundation that took a decade to lay.
